RASA micrometer head camera adapters

All about RASA11 and RASA36 adapters. We make these for 90mm round camera bodies such as the ZWO ASI6200mm series with either M68 or M54 threaded adapters and the QHY600 and QHY series with the dovetail interface.

RASA11 Adapters

The RASA11 telescope provides unparalleled price/performance for wide field scientific imaging. While the vendor's collimation approach provides acceptable images for consumer applications using DSLRs, scientfic imaging requires the best possible collimation, tilt, and spacing adjustments. This family of adapters allows you to adjust the collimation of the telescope, the camera tilt, and the camera spacing all without removing the camera. The graduated micrometer heads also allow you to know how much tilt or spacing you are adding, and also the ability to reproduce those settings in the future if desired.

The design comprises three key elements: a main adapter body, a nosepiece which connects to the camera, and two sets of rings. One ring set carries three brass anvils and is attached to the main adapter body. The second ring carries three micrometers, and attaches to the camera body. The camera body fastens to the nosepiece which is being pulled into the main adapter body via a specially engineered spring. Turning the micrometers pushes the camera (and nosepiece) away from the main adapter body, providing both spacing adjustment (by turning the micrometer heads all by the same amount) and tilt (by adjusting individual micrometer heads).

RASA36 Adapters

The RASA36 telescope provides unparalleled entendue for wide field scientific imaging, when coupled with a full frame or larger camera. This telescope uses a much larger corrector group than the RASA11, so to prevent vingetting, a much larger diameter main adapter must be provided, with a deeper internal pocket than is available on other adapters on the market. The same micrometer adjustment method is provided as on the RASA11 adapters. Note that on the QHY600 camera, the large diameter purge port screw necessitates using longer brass anvils.

P type Dovetail Saddle

Planewave "P" type dovetail saddle for carrying large payloads. Bolt pattern is compatible with Xerxes and Astro-Physics mounts.

240mm “P” style dovetail saddle mounts to Xerxes riser plate and any telescope using an 8 bolt circle 6.875 inches in diameter, 1/4x20.
